El Profesor Johann F. Osma, fue invitado a dar una conferencia el 17 de Mayo en el International Iberian nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) con sede en Braga (Portugal). La conferencia fue titulada “Biosensors and Nanostructures in Microsystems for Bio-applications”. En la actualidad, y a través de gestiones del Profesor Osma, el INL y la Universidad de los Andes tienen un convenio marco de cooperación.

El INL cuenta con un campus de 47.000 m2 y unos 26.000 m2 de area construida, una Sala Limpia clase 100 de 700 m2 además de laboratorios avanzados con equipamiento de ulta generación. Está ubicado en la ciudad de Braga, al norte de Portugal, muy cerca a la Universidad do Minho.

Abstract
The development of several micro and nano-scale fabrication techniques specifically targeted for biomedical, chemical, microbiological and pharmaceutical application allowed us to develop a new generation of fast and low cost instruments and techniques to study the behavior of liquids and components in the blood stream, the manufacture of high resolution 3D polymeric devices for in-vitro and possible in-vivo use, as well as, the inclusion of biosensors integrated into this microscale devices. The use of glass and transparent polymers has been crucial for the successful fabrication of relatively resistant, low cost and re-usable devices. Thus, this presentation will be focus on the several techniques, devices and integration opportunities in the se of biocompatible biosensors and microfluidic systems for bio-applications.
